Mitsubishi has a dedicated website for it new Lancer at LancerProject.com. Basically the website promote the Mitsubishi Lancer 2007 just launched in Aug 2007 in Malaysia.

It only cost USD19,115 in USA. If you do simple conversion with USD1 = RM3.50, it only cost RM66,903. So, just image with RM67K you get a full spec Lancer, do you think Proton still can survive? Anyway, we need to pay a whopping RM48,000 in price different, for new Mitsubishi Lancer with less features compare to US model.

The K6 has an interesting history – unsatisfied by its own designs, AMD purchased a company called NexGen, that was developing a chip called the Nx686 at the time. As a result AMD got access to Vinod Dahm, the designer of the original Pentium who had moved to NexGen. AMD changed the design so it would fit Socket 7, included MMX support, and shipped the result. Eventually the PR ratings AMD used were dropped when it started matching the actual MHz of the CPUs. The last ever K6 used Super Socket 7, giving it access to a 100MHz bus. This is the first time AMD used a different socket to Intel, even though it was backwards compatible with other Socket 7 chips. It was a stop-gap solution to up the FSB while AMD was designing Slot A, as it no longer had rights to Intel’s sockets. This worked to AMD’s advantage – those who invested in a Super Socket 7 board had compatibility with both the upcoming K6-2 and K6-III.

Cyrix does get a mention in our little history for implementing the 75MHz bus on its 6x86 and 6x86MX processors. This meant the PCI bus ran at 37.5MHz, which caused problems with some add-in cards. Cyrix caused even more problems in 1998 when it upped the speed of its MII chip to 83MHz, forcing a completely unreasonable 41.5MHz on PCI. As a result things were unstable, particularly IDE controllers.

While I'm fresh grad and looking for job, I alway hope that someone from the company may explain more about the culture to me before I really step my foot into the company. As most of the fresh graduates like to enter MNC (Multi National Company) like Flextonic, Samsung, Seagate, Microsoft, Sony, Intel and Toyota. How is the culture inside? Do you think you choose the right company?

Early RISC designs had very few instructions. Most omitted even multiply and add instructions, since these operations could be implemented using a combination of adds and shifts. This turned out not to be such a great idea. The minimum amount of time in which an instruction can complete is one cycle, and chips with divide instructions eventually were able to complete them in fewer instructions than a chip that executed the shifts and adds, especially on floating-point values, where extra normalization steps are required and the mantissa and exponent must be handled separately.

Intel’s x86 architecture is the last surviving CISC chip, and has a particularly baroque architecture, including things like string-comparison instructions. All x86 CPUs since the Pentium have contained a more RISC-y core and have translated these instructions into sequences of μops that are executed internally. Starting with the Core microarchitecture, Intel has done this in reverse, reassembling sequences of μops into sequences that can be executed with a single instruction.

The only real difference between a RISC and a CISC chip these days is the public instruction set; the internal instruction sets are likely to be similar. RISC and CISC are not the only possible alternatives, however. RISC came from a desire to simplify the core, and a group at Yale in the early 1980s worked out that you could take this design even further. A pipelined CPU has to do a lot of work to determine which instructions can be executed concurrently.

Muar boy's sleeper hit
A Taiwan-based student from Muar, who rapped about his hometown, took the cyberworld by storm when he posted a music video of the song on video-sharing site YouTube recently.
Wee Meng Chee, a 24-year old mass communications student at the Ming Chuan University in Taiwan, who composed the song Muar Chinese, saw more than 600,000 hits for the video since it was posted on the website early last month.
He produced the satirical but frank music video, which took digs at people who were ashamed of speaking their own dialect, KL-ites, as well as Chinese and foreign workers, when he went back to Muar for his holiday in February.
"It is just my feelings towards my hometown and it came straight from my heart," he said in a phone interview from Taipei recently.
The video, which was initially circulated among his friends on MSN for fun, was posted on YouTube after he received complaints from his friends that they could not easily download the file because of its large size.
"So I uploaded it on YouTube before I went to sleep so that it could be easily accessed by my friends," he said.
What he did not expect was that during the seven or eight hours he was sleeping, the video was viewed almost 5,000 times.
"My MSN account was also full of messages from my friends who told me that they liked the video very much," he said.
After three days, the hits on the video reached 80,000.
His parents and siblings, who knew nothing about the video before it shot to fame, were told of their son's and brother's instant popularity by their friends.
"I had done several other videos before so I found no reason to tell them about this particular one.
Moreover, I do not use vulgar words at home like I do in the video," he said.
With much hesitation, he said, he then called up his family to ask if he had shamed them with the video.
Bouquets and brickbats
There has been criticism from Internet surfers that Wee sounds offensive in some parts of his rap songs, saying that there was no need for him to emulate certain US rappers.
Many also posted comments criticising his views in his song.
But instead of being scolded by his family, Wong's mother told him that it is a nice video and that it has brought to light some realities that were previously unnoticed by even those who had lived in Muar for decades.
However, he has received negative criticism from viewers who said they despised the video; they accused him of using questionable methods to further his own objectives.
"I did not mean to offend anyone and I did not upload it to make myself famous," said Wee.
"That is not my intention; I just wanted to share the video with my friends but I did not expect others to like it so much." Wee, whose ambition is to become a movie director, said song writing is his hobby and that he had started composing songs when he was 15 years old.
"I have a collection of 300 songs that are all composed by me. I have sent them to record companies in Taiwan but they did not even want to look at them," he said.
"Muar Chinese is a song I wrote after several trips to China.
Just like Malaysians, people there speak the language very differently, depending on where they live," he said.
This realisation inspired him to write the song that tells others that they should not be ashamed or look down on themselves just because they speak the language with a different accent.
"There is no standard that one must follow when they speak Mandarin.
In every place, it has its own story, history and culture; that shapes the accents that people speak," he said.
